Home Assistant Update Log

This is my Home Assistant Build log, the vision of this project is to automate all the current appliances in my room and make IOT Smart products for my room usage.

Log 1:
Raspberry Pi Alternatives

I had planned to embark on this project in early 2023; during that period, there was a big Raspberry Pi Chip shortage, hence a normal Raspberry Pi 3 was over 120SGD, which was well over my budget, and the RPI 3 does not have high processing speeds that I need.

Due to this problem, I did a lot of research as I had wanted something small that could be placed on my desk without any disturbance, which has high processing speeds and was within my budget: Due to these specifications, I went for the Dell WYSE Thinclient.

Though It was released in early 2015, the processing speeds were sufficient for my usage and needs.

Log 2:
Initial setup of the Server

Initial placement of the Server

First Startup of the Server after etching it into a hard drive and mounting it inside the Thinclient

I was able to initialize and boot up the server and log in through its IP Address. As my Google Home Nest Hub was nearby, I was able to connect it to the server through the Google Home API and Encryption key. Hence, any media played on the Google Nest Hub can be viewed and controlled on the Home assistant Web Server. The other entities viewed were preset entities that were given by the OS.

Log 3:

This is the first integration I have been able to make, and I successfully control and view the operation of the desk lights using both Google Home and Home Assistant.

Log 4:
